Pick us up and play with us…
23rd July, 2009
Our results page now offers the ability to further break down the data we are bringing together over the course of the project. By breaking results down by age, location, gender or ethnicity, the results are now far more interesting to play with. It is extremely interesting, for example, to see that 61% of girls, aged 13-15 see underage sex as the norm, whilst 54% of boys, of the same age, think the same. It is also interesting to see that knives are most prevalent in the London, North West and West Midlands areas with between 16-19% of young respondents saying they know people that carry knives or do so themselves.
A large part of this project is about the data we gather being totally open source. We not only encourage people, other charities and brands to pick up and play with our data, but we actively push for them to do so. We’ve been tweeting as much information as possible here, whilst we’ve recently had a bunch of postcards printed up [with stats and facts pasted on the front] that will travel the length and width of the country. So please, talk about us, use our data and get involved – we’re going to be heard,we’re going to make a difference. I assure you.

It’s great to see that more is being done to help teenagers. The more we learn, the wiser we grow. Hence the less mistakes we are inevitably likely to make. Great job, keep it up!
Thanks Ethel, we will do all we can to make sure that we can help young people. I always think that once you get older you do forget what being young is really like and, due to this, you forget that to learn, mistakes must be made. Thanks for voicing your opinions, don’t hesitate to pass us on!
